beautiful girls at a Christmas party with glasses of champagne

Unless it’s escaped your notice, and we doubt very much that it has, it’s Christmas next month and the party-wear dilemmas will be well under way.

According to event planning service Well Pleased the 1950s vintage look is going to be a winner for Christmas parties all over the UK this year, so it’s all about the swing dresses and pencil skirts, for a really retro feminine look.

Wingz retro fifties style

One of the things we hear women complaining about all year round, but especially at this time of year, is the fact that it’s not easy to get a really glamorous party dress or top with sleeves. There are some utterly gorgeous sleeveless frocks on the high street this year, like this Lipsy one from Debenhams (if you look at the party dresses on the Debenhams website, there are three times as many sleeveless than there are with sleeves!) – if you added long black sleeves it would be like something out of Gentlemen Prefer Blondes with Marilyn Monroe!

Or this gorgeous blue Julien McDonald dress from Debenhams, which is stunning as it is but…looks a bit sparse and might benefit from something extra?

Julien McDonald

The detailing on the Julien McDonald dress straps is so pretty, you wouldn’t want to cover it up with a cardi. You can’t wear a top underneath; it’s far too low cut for that. What do you do if it’s really cold, or you just feel like covering your arms up?

We’re coming to the rescue with a competition to win a set of Wingz of your choice (up to a value of £20). All you have to do is pick your favourite design and tell us which one it is on our Facebook page. Winners will receive a set of Wingz in time for the Christmas rush.

The competition is open until Friday 11th December – good luck!
